Effective 9/1/2023, Texas House Bill 114 requires a student to be placed in the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) if the student possesses, uses, or is under the influence of, or sells, gives, or delivers marijuana, THC, or an e-cigarette to another person within 300 feet of school property or at a school-related event. Parent may find the full version of the Bill here: https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/88R/billtext/pdf/HB00114F.pdf The District encourages all families to talk with their students regarding the dangers associated with vaping or drug usage and to discuss the implications of this new law with your children, emphasizing the importance of adhering to school policies and laws for their own welfare and for the betterment of the school community as a whole. Your cooperation and support in ensuring that our district remains a safe and healthy educational environment for our students is deeply appreciated.

Update 2:42 p.m.: Power has been restored, and we are releasing students to return to the normal school schedule. All shuttles between the two high schools will run at the usual times. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked to resolve the power issue at our campus. Update 2:37 p.m.: Power is slowly returning in the building, but we remain in a Hold. GHS students shuttling back from CHHS will be transported at 3 p.m. (the normal time). We have determined that this is a GHS power issue. At this time, we are anticipating a normal dismissal. Update 2:18 p.m.: GHS is currently on a Hold while crews continue to work on restoring power to the campus. Students needing to shuttle to CHHS have been released. CHHS students who take the shuttle after 2 p.m. will not go to GHS. Phones have been transferred to the GCISD main line. We will continue to provide updates. Original Post 2:06 p.m.: Grapevine High School is currently without power. Facilities teams are aware and working to get this resolved as soon as possible. We will keep you updated with more information when it is available.

🚸🎒 School starts tomorrow! As we gear up for another exciting year of learning, let's remember to keep an extra eye out for our students who are waiting at a bus stop, walking and riding their bikes to school. Slow down in school zones, be vigilant at crosswalks, and give them the space they need to travel safely. #WeAreGCISD
