Congratulations to GHS Teacher of the Year - Robyn Dearmond and
Paraprofessional of the Year - Stephanie Martinez

Robyn has truly transformed the business program at Grapevine High School, redefining what real-world learning looks like for our Mustangs. Through innovation, vision, and relentless energy, she has built a program that doesn’t just teach business concepts;  it brings them to life. Her students aren’t simply learning about entrepreneurship; they are actively creating, marketing, and running successful ventures that serve our school and the greater community.

Under her leadership, DECA has become a dynamic hub of creativity, collaboration, and school spirit. The learning environment she has cultivated is electric. Students are energized, engaged, and empowered to think boldly. If it’s new, innovative, trendy, or exciting, Robyn and her students are often leading the charge. Her mindset is simple yet powerful: “We can do that.” And then she proves it. She constantly challenges students to stretch beyond what they think is possible and models the confidence and initiative that define true entrepreneurship.

Through programs like DECA, Mustang Ink, and Outpost, Robyn is equipping students with authentic entrepreneurial, marketing, and operational skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Her students design, produce, and showcase products not only for GHS but for campuses and departments across the district. The impact of her work is visible, tangible, and lasting. Robyn embodies Mustang pride, innovation, and excellence, and we are incredibly proud to recognize her as Grapevine High School’s Teacher of the Year.

Stephanie embodies the heart of Grapevine High School. She is an incredible connector, mentor, and advocate who builds authentic relationships with students across our campus. She has a remarkable ability to connect with all Mustangs, and she is especially impactful for many of our Hispanic students who may not otherwise have a trusted adult at school. Through her compassion, consistency, and cultural understanding, she helps students feel seen, heard, and supported.

Stephanie exemplifies what it means to be a true team player. She is always willing to step in wherever needed, particularly through her dedication to translation and ensuring clear communication with our Spanish-speaking families. She serves as a trusted bridge between home and school, helping reduce barriers and ensuring that families feel informed and empowered. As the sponsor of the Hispanic Leadership Club, she continued to lead and grow the organization even after Mr. Flores left our campus. Through HLC, she has engaged students who may not have initially been academically involved, encouraging them to step into leadership roles and recognize the many opportunities available to them.

Her impact extends far beyond one program or group of students. Stephanie is a trusted adult not only for students, but for parents and staff as well. She approaches even the most difficult conversations with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment. While she may keep us current on the latest TikTok trends and bring joy to our counseling office, her true gift lies in her unwavering commitment to student success and wellness. Her instincts, relationships, and dedication to our community are invaluable. Quite simply, Grapevine High School is a better place because Stephanie is here, and we are incredibly proud to honor her as our Paraprofessional of the Year.

For 18 consecutive years, Coach Daniel Jau and the Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School Swim and Dive teams have shown what the season is really about: giving back. Partnering with a local agency, these amazing students personally shopped for meaningful Christmas gifts for families in need across the DFW area. On Saturday, December 20, the Swim and Dive captains and seniors delivered gifts and food to four grateful families, spreading joy one doorstep at a time. Huge shoutout to Coach Jau and every member of these teams for their generosity, compassion, and heart.

On Thursday, November 6th, we celebrated Veterans Day with a wonderful performance by our GHS Choir and Band. Our Leadership students did an outstanding job of escorting and hosting the Veterans, kicking off this notable event with a walk of honor. The program followed immediately after, then our Veterans brunch, and a visit to the Veterans garden. We are grateful to Jane Rose and our Leadership students for continuing the tradition of organizing this excellent event. We are also very thankful for the inspiring words shared by retired United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Gerremy Goldsberry. Thank you to everyone who has served our country for your service!

Grapevine High School students applied the knowledge they have learned in environmental science, forensics, engineering and drone technology and health to respond to a “Disasterville” simulation activity brought to the campus yesterday by the Army National Guard. While wearing virtual reality glasses to provide a more immersive experience, they successfully saved the day for a mock town struck by three natural disasters by applying their skills.
