On January 22, the Grapevine High School and Colleyville Heritage High School swim and dive teams competed at the UIL 5A District 7 championship, where GCISD teams won 18 out of 24 events and the GHS girls and CHHS boys took home the district titles, while the GHS boys and CHHS girls finished as runners-up.
Athlete of the Year honors were awarded to CHHS sophomore Zach Arthur in boys diving and junior Aiden Tokarski in boys swimming. Head swim coach Daniel Jau was named Boys and Girls Coach of the Year, and Stacy Marincasiu was also honored as Boys Dive Coach of the Year.
These top finishes qualify all four varsity boys and girls teams for the UIL 5A Region 2 meet, which will be held in Mansfield at the Debbie Weems Natatorium on February 6-7.
