Teacher of the Year - Diane Elliott
Mrs. Elliott successfully tackles various behavior challenges in the RISE room. She finds ways to involve general education students with the RISE students, PALS, Best Buddies, and lunch buddies. She engages every student by understanding their individual needs and incorporates each one into the learning process. Her many years of experience make her an excellent role model for students and colleagues.
Diane Elliott is a veteran teacher with a wealth of knowledge and skills in the classroom. Her rapport with students and families is top notch and her compassion for her kids radiates in everything that she does. One of the things that I admire about Ms. Elliott is her constant advocacy for some of our smallest and least vocal Mustangs. There are no favorites in her classroom as she loves all her students the same. She is a firm believer that every student, regardless of ability or impairment, is entitled to the same level of respect and dignity that any other person would get. I am constantly in awe of her ability to address her students' varied needs running the gamut of bathroom assistance, help learning to read, pre-vocational skills, making friends, and so so much more. I am so grateful that I get to watch her ardent fervor and commitment for her students here at GHS. Every student deserves to be loved in the classroom the way that Ms. Elliot loves her students. We are lucky to have someone like her teaching our RISE classroom.
