On January 5 and 6, 2024, the Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage High School cheer teams competed in the 5A Division II UIL Spirit State Championships. GHS earned a silver medal in the competition, while CHHS cheer placed ninth in the state and won the top spot in the Crowd Leading category.
On day one of the competition GHS scored a 63.3 in Fight Song, 48.45 in Band Chant and 81.85 in Crowd Leading for a total of 193.6. CHHS scored a 52.45 in Fight Song, 47.85 in Band Chant and an 86.6 in Crowd Leading for a total of 186.9. Both team’s scores qualified them for the finals round of competition.
On the final day of competition, teams were competing for their ranking in the state of Texas. After competing in the same categories as the day before and averaging their scores, GHS earned 93.53 points and CHHS earned 88.83.
