I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the families and staff at Cannon Elementary School. I am committed to providing innovative leadership that supports authentic learning experiences for students.
I earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and two Master of Education degrees from Southern Methodist University in education and educational leadership. I earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in STEM education from Texas Tech University.
I began my career in GCISD as a fourth-grade teacher at Silver Lake Elementary School. My journey took me to New Orleans and Madison, Mississippi where I had the opportunity to teach math and health while coaching volleyball and softball. I returned to the DFW area in 2007 to focus on STEM education as a magnet teacher in Garland ISD. I also served as a science instructional coach before moving into an administrative role as the elementary science curriculum coordinator in 2013. In 2014, I was named the PreK-12 science curriculum coordinator and in 2015 I became the STEM curriculum coordinator. I am happy to say that I rejoined GCISD in 2017 as an associate principal at GHS for the STEM program. I am looking forward to a wonderful year serving as the principal of Cannon Elementary: A GCISD STEM School.
