New GHS Counselor Introductions!

We are excited to welcome Mr. Al Marks and Mrs. Katherine Partridge to the GHS Counseling team! Students are assigned to counselors by their last name.

Throughout the school year, counselors can be reached by phone or e-mail. Students can request to meet with their counselor when needed, by using the link listed under their counselor’s picture on the GHS counseling webpage or by scanning the QR code posted in their classroom.


2018-19 Schedules: Students will pick up their unofficial schedule during Mustang Roundup. On the first day of school, students will need to check Skyward and follow their official schedule listed. Please see the following important information regarding schedule changes.

Students were able to request changes to their schedules during the window of May 21-23 and can request changes (for schedule errors only) during the window of August 1-3 by submitting the online form posted on the GHS counseling website. Changes will be accommodated based upon space and availability. Some students may notice a change to the order of their classes due to course request changes and staffing changes. No further schedule changes will be permitted after August 3rd except in the case of extenuating circumstances. Examples of extenuating circumstances include:

- Selected for a higher level activity such as band, choir, etc.

- Previously earned credit for course.

- Course needed for graduation (for seniors only).

- Desire to move up to Pre-AP, AP.


Students will be allowed to level up to Pre-AP or AP courses within the first 10 days of the fall semester by contacting their counselor. Students will be allowed to level down from Pre-AP or AP courses at the end of the 4-week and 9-week points and at the end of the first semester (pending space and availability).


Transcript requests: Students in need of an unofficial or official transcript will need to request those through a link to Parchment on the GHS Counseling website:

http://ghs.gcisd.net/resources/counseling/transcript_request_information/. The student will be prompted to set up a Parchment account, if they have not already created one. Please, only access Parchment through the link provided on the GHS Counseling website so the account is linked to GHS. When setting up your account, it is not necessary to complete the scholarship/college search portion. Skipping this portion will expedite the account setup. Seniors should notify their counselor if they are in need of a counselor recommendation letter.


Dual Parents/Students- The first day of Dual class is Monday, August 20th . Students are expected to have their required textbook for the course with them on the first day of Dual. Payment for Dual is due no later than Friday, August 3rd, or the student will be dropped from Dual. Did you know?: ACT and SAT fee waivers are available for students who qualify for free/reduced lunch. Students who qualify can request these waivers from Mrs. Stilwell at the front desk in the counseling office.
