Hello friends! I am Emily Ramser, one of our highschool ASPIRE English teachers. I am so thrilled to be here and be both teaching and learning from my students in GCISD!

I previously taught AP English Language and Composition and yearbook in Denton ISD and various rhetoric and creative writing courses for Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP). Once upon a time, I also student taught arts-integrated third and fifth grade in North Carolina. I previously have worked for an international geek marketing firm and as an editor at publishing house!

I am incredibly lucky to have attended the oldest women's college in the country for my undergrad, Salem College, where I earned a BA in English and a BA in creative writing with a focus in creative nonfiction. I completed both my graduate degrees at Texas Woman's University, an M.A. in Teaching with a focus in English and an M.A. in English with a focus in literature.

Outside of school, I write and paint and volunteer with my community a lot.  I absolutely love poetry --my students may groan at that, but I swear, poetry is great. It's just all about finding a poet you connect with. I have several books of poetry published and have been published in the US, France, and Canada. Any other free time is spend hanging out with my cats, Neville and Bogle!

I feel so lucky to have found my way to the ASPIRE Program, and I welcome any questions you may have.
