Alex Fingers will serve his first year as principal at GHS in 2020-2021. He previously served as principal at Cross Timbers Middle School. Trustees approved the recommendation during a special board meeting on Monday, April 13, 2020. 

“Over the last seven years, Alex has worked to transform the culture at Cross Timbers Middle School,” said GCISD Superintendent Dr. Robin Ryan. “We are very excited for him in this new role to continue making a difference in the lives of his students and staff.” 

Fingers served as the principal at CTMS since 2016. Prior to leading the campus, he was an assistant principal at CTMS for three years. He taught English/language arts and social studies at Longfellow Career Exploration Academy Middle School from 2007-2013 after beginning his career at Horace Mann Arts & Science Magnet Middle School in Little Rock, Arkansas in 2004.

“I am forever grateful for the fond memories shared with the amazing students, staff, and families of Cross Timbers Middle School,” Fingers said. “I am thrilled for the opportunity to work alongside the dedicated staff of Grapevine High School. Together, we will continue lasting traditions, seek pertinent innovations, and enhance the overall high school experience for our students, parents, and the communities we serve. Excited to join Mustang Nation!”

Fingers earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and his master’s degree from Lamar University. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in education leadership from the University of North Texas.
